If you land up at Istanbul Airport without having a valid visa, then you have three options-

At any other airport

But, if you land up in any other airport, including Dalaman International Airport & Bodrum Milas Airport, then also you can apply for a visa on arrival. Here you can get an old sticker type visa at the visa counter, for which you have to pay a fee amount of £20 in cash.

An update on Turkish Visas

As per the new guidelines issued by the Turkish government, visitors arriving in Turkey on or after 11 April will have to get an e-visa online before travel. Meanwhile, in the transition period, visas on arrival will be available, but it takes lots of time and strength to stand in long queues at airports. Guidelines for E Visa Turkey

E Visa Turkey is an electronic authorization which can be obtained online any time before the travel, as it gets issued at the same time of submitting application. The applicant does not have to contact the embassy for the visa arrangements. The online E Visa is a substitute to the stamp or stickers which were issued at the Turkey border crossing. The entry of the traveller with the online visa is subject to denial by the Turkish authorities due to certain reasons.

Changes

As the E Visa is issued electronically, changes or amendments on the same are not permitted. The traveler needs to travel with the same passport details which were entered in the application online, otherwise the E Visa would be invalid for tarvel and he/she would have to apply again for the same.

E Visa Turkey

The E Visa validity commences from the date specified in the application, the holder can enter the country on any date within this period.

If the traveler wishes to stay longer than the stay permitted on E Visa, he/she needs to contact the Local Police Department to apply for a residence permit.

The payment can be made only through Visa or Master debit or credit card for the E Visa Turkey.

Travel Visa for Turkey

Travelling to Turkey is getting easy nowadays, as the older visa with the Sticker on passport has been replaced by the Electronic Turkey E-Visa which can be applied online. 

Turkey E-visa is a multiple entry visa for which only few countries can apply. To check your eligibility for the online E-Visa for Turkey you may visit http://www.evisa-turkey-tr.org . Payment for the online applications can be made by using master or visa credit/debit card. The evisa-turkey-tr.org company can only apply the visa on your behalf to the Government, entry in the Turkey territory is subject to immigration approval only. If you have received an e-mail message informing you that your E-visa application has been denied, you can visit the nearest Turkish Embassy or Consulate for visa application.

Validity of E Visa Turkey:

Once the E-visa is issued on your passport, it will be valid for 180 days, which allows the traveler to stay in Turkey for maximum period of 90 days. However, the duration of the stay allowed differs between countries, as for some countries the duration of the stay allowed is only 30 days. Turkey E-visa is valid only for tourism and trade purpose.  

Mostly all of the countries can apply for the Turkey E-visa online. However, there are limitations for some countries such as, an applicant should hold a valid Schengen visa or a valid visa (except for electronic -visas) from any of the OECD member countries; or should have a valid residence permit of a Schengen or OECD country.
